Love and Obedience

The streams of Christ’s obedience flowed from the spring and fountain of ardent love to God. “But that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do” (John 14:31). Thus let all your obedience to God turn upon the hinge of love; for “love is the fulfilling of the law” (Romans 13:10). Not as if no other duty but love were required in the law, but because no act of obedience is acceptable to God, but that which is performed in love.
